1/12/06 - After this weeks two automated Windows Security Updates (operating
MCE 2004 SP2), Outlook has failed to receive or send any mail. I have deleted
(then rein-stalled) NIS, but even with it uninstalled, Outlook failed. I've
verified that the Windows Firewall is off, and Explorer and all my other
software connect correctly. Anyone else seen this or have any recommendations?

THere is no error message. I've verified the Outlook settings and when I try
to test the account settings, I do get a check mark on the "Network
Connection, but the POP3 and SMTP connections, as well as the test send email
message, all fail. My ISP is up and working, that's how I recevied your
reply, by going direfctly to it's web site. I've closed and re-started
Outlook, rebooted the computer, verified in NIS that Outlook is allowed both
inbound and outbound access. I'm perplexed!

Try using Outlook Express to send/receive messages. That should tell you if
the problem is Outlook related, or the problem is with MAPI or system. If you
could check it in some other client, that would eliminate/confirm MAPI error.
