Starting about a month ago, when I check for mail (clicking on the "Send/Recv" button) the small dialog box that shows progress of incoming or outgoing mail doesn't automatically close itself. Instead, it remains open and states "The requested tasks were completed successfully". I have to click on the "Hide" button to close it.

I feel it must be an option somewhere that inadvertently got set or changed. I've looked at everything I think is appropriate to Outlook Express without luck. I would appreciate some words of wisdom to clear this pesky problem.

Thanks in advance, John

I would recommend asking the experts in the Outlook Express newsgroups.

It could be one or a combination of the following:

1. You have your AV checking email. If so, disable it as it offers no
additional protection and OE doesn't get along with them.

2. Anti-spam program hooked up to OE. Same thing.

3. You store messages in the default folders like Inbox and Sent Items.
If so, create new folders under Local Folders and move the messages out
of the default folders.

4. Compact you messages off line by clicking on Outlook Express at the
top of the folder tree and then File/Folders/Compact all folders. Don't
use your keyboard or mouse until it's done. If you have a lot of
messages and haven't done this before, it may take a long time.

Hi John. Try using a different program than Outhouse Distress for
email. Upgrade to a clean, flushable privy like Thunderbird from
Mozilla. Good luck!
