Simple question...Where do I find about status of outgoing messages? Windows
at place of employment has drop down boxes for outgoing messages. Where does
windows Vista hide these programs? The only mail program running is Inbox.

Windows Mail doesn't have separate programs for these, only separate
folders.
See if clicking on the triangle to the left of Local Folders makes any more
folders appear. If it makes the Inbox folder disappear instead, click it
again.
Click on the Outbox to see the status of messages waiting to go out. Click
on Sent Items to see the status of messages that have already gone out.
