new laptop - with Vista installed...I've had the same problem as many on here
with mail stuck in my outbox for days. Is anyone any closer to resolving this
please?

Also whilst trying to create new folders to move mail into from the inbox,
all my mail dissapeared completely. I had to re-boot twice before it appeared
again. Anybody had this problem? Is it possible to install Outlook Express in
Vista, have used it for years and not had one problem.

my problem is not only some message periodically sit in the outbox all of my
subfolders goes missing!

HELP please

For the first problem, use the Microsoft fix:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090

For the second problem:
Windows Mail is not compatible with most McAfee or
Norton security programs. Those will need to be
uninstalled, not just disabled.

After uninstalling your non-compatible antivirus, download
and install a more compatible antivirus like the free Avast:
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

Even compatible antivirus programs will need to have their
email scanning option turned off. For more on this topic see

Hi ,

thank you for replies.
I had already uninstalled Norton AV which i wasn't using anyway, it came as
part of the package with new laptop. Why when it's not compatible with
Vista???

I am using AVG anti virus and had already disabled the mail scanning in/out
on this as I had read previous threads to try and resolve this problem before
i posted.

I then downloaded the fix from Msoft which lets me delete mail from outbox.

But I'm still left with the problem my mail won't 'send'. I don't want to
spend time creating messages to send to my outbox, so i can then delete them
before they are sent to the recipient...! Can anybody help please. How can I
get my mail to 'send'
thanks

We can assume that during the time Norton AV was installed on
your system it corrupted the mail account. So, delete that mail
account, restart Windows Mail, then recreate that account.
