Whenever i try to install new software my monitor shuts off and comes up with
the message 'out of range' any suggestions why this may happen?

You have your monitor's screen resolution set for a resolution that the
monitor can't handle.

Then you've got some hardware problems. Uninstall and swap out your
video card for a known-working one. If the problems disappear, discard
the original video card.

When does it shut off? On reboot? During a major (long) install?
What is your Control Panel>Power Options>turn Off Monitor set at,
(timewise)?
Is the computer on during the message?
"Out of Range" can mean Monitor on, but Computer off, also.

St. Daniel,

This is probably your monitor resolution (probably too high) and/or your
monitor refresh rate. Lower your screen resolution and set your refresh rate
at 85 Hertz.

1) Right-click on your desktop > select Properties > Settings tab > Screen
Resolution

2) Right-click on your desktop > select Properties > Settings tab > Advanced
Monitor tab > Screen Refresh rate
