We are using Windows 2000 and Outlook 2003. We DO NOT have the Microsoft
Exchange Server. (That's a long sad story) The boss wants to notify
everyone sending him email that he is out of the country on his honeymoon.
Is there anyway to do this without having the "Out of Office Assistant"
available (which we would have if we had the Exchange Server).

You didn't specify whether you are using a POP3 or IMAP client, but
regardless... check and see if you have the option of using the Rules
Wizard. If you do, you could create a rule to send out what would amount to
an Out of Office message.

Without the Rules Wizard though, which also may not be available due to the
lack of an Exchange Server, I know of no other way to accomplish this.

We're using POP3. I tried using the rules wizard, but couldn't find an
option for if xxx then "send this message".

Thanks for the help. I should have read further back in the messages before
posting (but I had over 6,000!). I found what I needed in another thread
and I've done the message for my boss.
