Out of Office Assistant

For some reason, once the "Out of Office Assistant" is
enabled, people sending e-mail to the recipient does not
recieve the automated reply.

However if you add a rule to... namely "Reply using
template", people sending e-mail receives 2 automated
replies.

Anyone have any thoughts as to where to begin
troubleshooting?
 
I am having a similar problem. The 'Out of Office
Assistant' when enabled is no longer auto-replying and
recipient's no longer receive the OoO notification. I
have now also tested as you stated below by adding a rule
also, however, recipients only receive the template
message and not the automated one.

Does any one out there have any ideas as to why the Out of
Office stops firing???
