Out of hand Virus Notification Messages

My question involves Outlook on XP. I recently did a
virus check through the Microsoft site and ended up
downloaded about 24 different patches. What's happened
since is that whenever we get an infected attachment (e.g.
SoBIG), we get a message through Outlook stating that a
virus was found and the attachment was deleted or
something like that. The problem is that these messages
are now so common and often that it's preventing me from
getting email in a timely manner. When I hit the
Send/Receive button, it's taking a while for anything to
get through because of all the virus notification
messages. If there something I can do to control/change
this? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

You can not do a virus check through Microsoft's site.
However you can install Windows Updated from Microsoft's site, and
that is most likely what you did.

Outlook Express:
Open Outlook Express.
Click Tools, click Options, click Security tab.
Uncheck "Do not allow attachments..."
This change that Microsoft implemented is to help prevent viruses and
other bad code being received with attachments.
It is very important to keep your antivirus updated and run it at
least weekly.

Actually, your administrators have configured the AV software so that you
receive the notification every time a virus is detected in a message that
was sent to you. It's a good thing.
