Good morning. We have installed several thin clients out
at our construction trailers and recently, many of them
are coming up with an error when they are powered on that
they are unable to authenticate to the domain (we initally
had them set to logon to the domain automatically and it
isn't the AD account that is causing the error since
regular pc's that use the account can logon witout
errors.. After further investigation, we receive the
following error on the Domain Controller's event log:

The session setup from the computer SHNC-HCDTRAILER failed
to authenticate. The name(s) of the account(s) referenced
in the security database is SHNC-HCDTRAILER$. The
following error occurred:
Access is denied.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp. (Event ID 5722)

I have tried changing the computer name to no avail (from
the actual computer itself) and resetting the account.

Is anyone else experiencing the same issue and does anyone
have a fix?

Many thanks!!

Thanks. I will try that. I wonder if MSFT will be
developing a fix for that because surely I am not the only
one to have ever brought this up.

There is a known incompatibility between Active Directory
and EWF. One solution is to disable EWF on the machines
on the active directory domain. Another possiblity is to
have a logoff script that will commit the ewf overlay
anytime the PDC sends a domain secret change.
