Hello,

One of the user Outlook.pst is to large, and causes problems. I created a
new Oulook.pst, and I am trying to connect with the old one that has been
renamed. I tried to open in Outlook, but it seems that the file is too
large, and Outlook frozes. At the present time, I still haven't been able to
repair that file.

Is it possible to split a pst file? if yes, how can I do it, as I can't open
it from Outlook.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Hi - this is a windows XP newsgroup. Outlook questions are best posted to
microsoft.public.outlook.

If you are using OL2002 or earlier (or OL2003 with a non-unicode/new format
PST file) and have hit the 2GB limit (note that problems usually occur
closer to 1.2 - 1.5GB) you will need the PST crop utility to open the file
at all, and you will have lost data:
http://www.slipstick.com/problems/repair2gbpst.htm

If the file isn't yet at that size, try to run scanpst.exe (search your hard
drive) against the file. Try it a couple of times. If it doesn't work, you
need the crop utility....

You should get more help in the Outlook forum. No, you cannot split a pst
file. Open the large file and clean out and archive old items.

You can also try Stellar PST File Splitter which Split Large PST File (above 2GB) size into many small sized PST files on the basis of Date, Size, Mail ID, and Folders. You can download trial version of the software from the company's website.
