OT: Vista's Patch Guard

didn't get much response from the vista group on this question, so what
do you guys think?

Do you guys think the changes to Patch Guard -- the new included APIs
that allow aftermarket AV vendors to leverage the kernel -- will
introduce new security issues/holes in Vista? This whole development
makes me nervous.

Of course it will! But the welfare of the millions must take a back seat to
the claims of a handful that "competition is being thwarted."

Remember, in the heyday of Standard Oil, it was not the consumers (who saw
the price of kerosene drop from $3.00/gallon to less than a nickel) that
complained; it was the other oil companies (and the whale oil suppliers).
