Recently bought USB memory key, but this one didn't have one of those
programs that gives a secure/password protected area for sensitive or
personal data.

Can anyone recommend any software? Preferably freeware. And software where
the data can be accessed independently on any PC rather than need software
installed on that PC- some I've seen seem to be dependant on that.

Kanguru does make and sell secure USB microdrives, including
those that require a password to access or have secure folders
that need a password to open. These Kanguru flash drives have
been recommended by security experts to meet HIPAA regulations.
