OT: need some portable storage advice

Well I thought about media cards, but I can get this little 1.5 gig hard
drive for $66 shipped.

Remember the shock rating of hard-drives should be taken
with a pinch of salt. Yes, 3.5" can be 350G non-op, and 2.5"
can be 1,000G non-op - but it is for short (eg, 1ms) duration.

So if you are carrying a HD about...
o Keep it in a carry case of some sort
o A briefcase is better than nothing
o A small pelican or similar foam-lined case ideal

Yes a HD can store a lot of data very cheaply, but it is also
a single point of failure in terms of risk re theft/drop/damage.

Digital media cards are still a bit expensive for multi-GB,
however they are very rugged compared to magnetic media.
