Hi I know this isn't the right NG but I was hoping for a little advise
please on Word.

I have over 10,000 song listed in Microsoft Word 2000 alphabetically in 26
document labelled a-z my problem is if I need to find a record rather than
open that particular letter is there a way I can search the word files from
windows and find the record, if you understand what I mean. I have a
document viewer for txt files but I don't want to convert the doc files to
txt files

cheers Dave

Dave,

I may be way off base here - BUT - can you import/export the list into Excel
or Access?
I have a song list in Access and it makes finding things easy
I know I could do the same in Excel
Just an idea

Good Luck,

Bill

Not with the general search engine from the XP menu but you can:

Open Word, click on search. Go from there.

Note: The search from within Word will probably be much faster if you
have disk indexing turned on but that's your choice.
