Yahoo Messenger? If I would install this, is there adware / spyware that
comes with it? Or is it a relativly safe messenger program to install?

Thanks,

Doug

I use it all the time with no problems. The video and audio communication is
excellent.

Good an IM program as any, better than some. Safe enough, but realize you
are on the web and take the needed precautions. Will you get ads? Of
course, same as you do on ICQ, AOL instant messenger, and all the rest. Can
you live with "Do you Yahoo?" coming on the screen?

Any instant messaging system can "potential" get spyware transmitted thru
it. With Yahoo Messager, you are limited to only use the Yahoo message
system. I would look at GAIM or Trillian messagers. They can operate with
MSN, ICQ, AIM, Yahoo and Jabber.

I get no ads and no "Do you Yahoo?". Maybe you need to configure your
program properly.

Hey thanx for all the good replies everyone! Of course I know that
inherently with the internet, your always running a security risk, and most
of it is user induced when there is a problem. I just try to run very tight
systems security wise for my office, home, and kids computers that are
networked and didn't want to wind up making more work for myself cleaning
something up that a program put in without my knowledge. Everything is
behind a NAT32, Zonealarm and the XP Firewall and Norton's Anti-Virus and
some very specific filtered ports at the router, So hopefully that'll keep
the bad guys out.

Anyway, thanks again for all the helpful replies!!
