(OT) Ebay count down counter....

When an item on ebay gets down to around 3 hours left until the bid
closing time, it begins to count down on my screen. I am not noticing
any internet activity on my connection icon. Is this counter just
operating from my internal system clock, and being driven by a browser
script?

Just curious.....

I think I answered my own question. I disconnected from the internet,
and the timer kept going. It must just run off my system clock....
