OT - Datamind & SPAM

It may, of course be entirely co-incidental, but as you can see I replied to
the earlier Post about this company, and this evening I received a SPAM
from Datamind.

If I should get a few more tomorrow, we will all know what is going on.

Just in case a real person from that company should happen to be reading
this Group, you will NEVER, and I mean NEVER get any business from me, and
as the webmaster for a Photographic Club, I might just happen to give you a
mention.

Hi Roy:

I just checked my junk mail, nothing from Datamind.
However, if they are doing spam they will never get any business
from me.

As the original poster in the origanal Datamind thread I'm not exactly
reassured to hear this, though I haven't received anything from them myself
at this moment - which might suggest it was vindictive, or childish.

In the end, it may have just been down to some spotty, moped riding 'gopher'
called Kevin, who hasn't got a girlfriend and who's job it is to make the
tea, clean the toilets and sweep up. ;]

Hi

You could be right, nothing so far today. Why are they always called Kevin
or Wayne?

I do get a lot of Spam, because my Email Address is available on a lot of
websites, and the extra generated by using a real address for NGs is not all
that much. Because of the business, it would not be very clever to apply
Spam Filters, as I would miss out on a lot of Enquiries.

Gee thanks.

They are not all mine, some are borrowed from the Tourist Board, and a few
are from Ayr Photographic members, and the one of Girvan Harbour is by my
Wife, using her new Fuji S5500.

Datamind don't spam there customers. I have dealt with Datamind on a
number of occasions and never had cause to complain about the quality
of there service. In fact I would go as far to say that they rank
amongst some of the most helpful people I have ever had the pleasure
of dealing with.
Speaking from experience, if you buy someting from them and have a
problem, they will try to support it for you as far as they can and
if they can't they will try to find an answer from the manufacturer
or give you contact details so you can contact them yourself.
There aren't many companies, in my experience, that will give you
there level of support, competence and courtesy.
Datamind do send email flyers out, like any sensible business does
however having used them for the last 5 years without any problems I
have only ever received about 10 in total - hardly spamming - always
an interesting read and you have the option to not receive further
emails if you choose to. That rates at about 2 per year.
I get the impression that the person who has criticised Datamind must
have a very warped and twisted attitude where he feels it necessary
to run a company down for just the slightest issue. Has he ever used
Datamind. I doubt it.
Ignore him. Use Datamind with confidence.
I regularly buy from them and rarely have had any issues that cannot
be resolved from a phonecall.

I've always found smaller companies better to deal with as they try harder
and usually know their product far better than someone at a sales desk. I'm
local to this company, so I get the chance to talk face to face, which is
another reason behind my post.

I'm re-assured that they take problems seriously. The last thing I want is
to spend four figures on a piece of equipment and end up talking to a robot
who quotes company policy at me. This is an important point IMHO.

Many thanks for the info Greeb. Not sure what happened earlier on. Could be
a lurker up to some mischief, eh? Still, we have a result, so all's well.
