I've got an old CompaQ AT sitting here whose days are done.

But the case is nice enough to make me think about keeping it.

Is it a big deal to build an ATX board into an old AT case?

An ATX mainboard has an I/O panel (with all the connectors) that goes
through the back of an ATX case. You can't put an ATX board in an AT
case because it does not have a cut-out for this.

Also, the power button switch on an AT case is usually far different
than the one on an AT case. An AT case may also not have compatible
connectors for the ATX board's front panel connectors.

An AT case is usually not configured for proper air flow for an ATX
board, and fan mountings may be absent of improperly located.

Obviously the power supply is also not compatible, though that is
replaceable.

Oh well..... Sounds like it's not worth the trouble.

Thanks.

I've done it but had to use a nibbling tool...
it was really a lot more work than it was worth
