S'ok;

It's on a lark...yet I'm cheap. I'm trying to cobble together a 3-word
saying in Latin. I have the words but, being <ahem> retentive, would
like to know they're grammatically all lined up.

Anyone know to whom/where I could turn?

tia,

Have a look at Latin-English Dictionary:

http://users.erols.com/whitaker/words.htm

<quote> This Latin dictionary program, (WORDS for the PC - DOS, Windows
95/98/NT/ME/2000/XP, OS/2, LINUX - and Mac OS X - console version), takes
keyboard input or a file of Latin text lines and provides an
analysis/morphology (declension, conjugation, case, tense, etc.) of each
word individually, the dictionary form, and the translation (meaning).
</quote>

(Craig: Why have you marked this OT. It seems to be on-topic to me.)

Yea, well...

Just to recap:

1) Need 3 words conjugated in latin. I have the 3 words, or bring your
own!.
2) I'm cheap. A skinflint. 180 degrees from a spendthrift.
3) posting to alt.jobs smells faintly ridiculous.

Anyone have any ideas..resources?

Post here your three words, I can check if they're grammatically correct :-)
Three words sentences I can recall now are "Pacta servanda sunt", "Cartago
delenda est", "Alea tracta est", "Veni, vidi, vici", "Tu quoque Brute",...

Errare humane est? ;-)

Errare humane est? ;-)

It's 'Alea iacta est' and 'Errare humanum est'.

And Cato said something along the lines of 'Ceterum censeo Cartaghinem
esse delendam'.

But most likely both Caesar and Cato spoke Greek rather than Latin.

When I'd started out on this "little" project, I'd thought Latin would
be, well, "just another Latinate." Boy, was I wrong. Latin is a
snake's den. The mother of all twisted tongues. After sifting through
five on-line dictionaries, I ended up doing the unthinkable...A pure
analog exchange of information.

Like talking & stuff.

I walked to the local library after work last night and spoke w/a
reference librarian. After poking around on /her/ computer, she came
away with the names & numbers of two people who head local organizations
dedicated to teaching Latin to youth.

I'll be trying to weasel some time, gratis, from one or more wizkids.

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions.

Mark, Life of Brian's screenplay was a hit around the house last night.
Took role-playing to a whole new level. <grin>
