When messing around with my table options recently, I inadvertently
eliminated the default pivot table formatting recently and can't retrieve it.
I've tried using the format report option and selecting "Pivot Table Classic"
(which is not the classic format BTW). No dice. I tried selecting another
format and applying, then returning and applying the Classic format, still no
luck. I really can't stand any of the table formats provided under autoformat
and would just like to revert to the original default format.

I'm using Excel 2003 on Windows XP. I'm typically an advanced user and use
pivots daily and have for years. In this case, I'm totally stumped. PLEASE
HELP!!!

What happened when you selected "Pivot Table Classic"?
That should have returned it to the default format and tabular layout.

It applies a strange almost illegible format where there are no cell borders
(gridlines) and actually removed the standard gridlines from the worsheet
where the pivot table "sat". It's two days since my original post and for
whatever reason - after rebooting a few times, its seems to have resolved
itself. i can't say why it did that as i tried rebooting the other day when
it started and it didn't help....
