some one else set up my computer. they took the disks. they set it so it
becomes a computer on a network. it will deny me access to files. most files
are encrypted. this person still uses this computer. she has access to my
stuff but i, not to her. this is my computer. how can I reset it up from
scratch. I payed four hundred dollars to have it wiped clean. but this did
not wipe out registry or other stuff. I am new to computers. I am being
hoodwinked I'm afraid. How do I figure out what is going on on my computer.

You paid $400 for someone to set up your system ?? Boy, they saw you coming
down the street, didn't they ??

What network are you connected to ??
They took the Windows XP disk ??

Why don't you contact the police and tell them you've been scammed....

Get a Microsoft Windows XP cd-rom put it in the cd-rom drive, restart
computer, then follow instructions.... like format the harddisk and then
install windows xp ;)

Bye,
Skybuck.

In addition to that you also might have to find out what stuff/hardware is
in your computer and install additional drivers later on to get things
working/working better.

Drivers can be download from most manufacturer's site ;)

But then again since you a newby you ll probably download the wrong stuff,
and you ll get infected lol.

I think it's safe to say: R.I.P. ;)

Bye,
Skybuck.

Although this is a personally-owned computer, where is it
set up? Perhaps in an organized office and you are using its
networking resources? If this is the case, then you have given
up some of your rights and it would have been better if the
office had provided you with a computer and you would not feel
this way.

If the above is not the case, then retrieve your property. Next,
find a very good friend who is computer-savvy and who is willing
to set up the computer, operating system and applications properly.
And also to teach you how to use them.
