Organizing files

How do I organize video/audio/picture files according to
the date they were created/downloaded instead of by such
things as artist, album, etc.

Try clicking on View Menu then choose Arrange Icons By and choose Date or whatever you want.
 
Unfotunately I tried that. I downloaded some more music
and that stuff (in a separate folder) can be organized
according to date. Does anybody understand what might be
going on?
