order of records different when exported?

Hello,

I am trying to export 2 tables which contain the paths and names of
files.

When viewed in Access 2003 the order of the paths/file names appears
the same for the first 20 records but when exported they are
different! In each case I ordered the records alphabetically before
exporting..

Why would this be?

Cheers,

Geoff

How did you export them?

Unless you exported a query that explicitly sorted the records, I don't
think any ordering you may have applied to the table itself is going to
affect the export. Instead, Access will export the records in whatever
sequence it finds most convenient, which I would expect to be in ascending
sequence by primary key (if there is one).

If you care about the order, create a query that sorts the records, and
export that.

Thanks Dirk - will try this!
