Hi:

I have a single slide PPT 2002 presentation that has a
liitle bit of animation of text (appearing and changing
colors) on a bitmap background.

The end product (i.e. after the animation and all the
objects are downloaded) looks as expected, but the process
(i.e. the order in which the objects come down, e.g. the
bitmap background (about 300K) comes the last which makes
the text which is already in animation!, look weird).
Ideally, I would like the background come down first and
then the rest of the text and then kick the animation off -
Appreciate any thoughts on how this can be done?

Thanks
Raman

I would guess that your background image is too large and the delay is the
time it takes to download it and then display it.

Anything that I can do to

1. enforce an order in which the objects come down?
2. reduce the size of the image without losing too much
quality. When I publish the PPT for the web I use 800X600
layout.

Thanks

Reduce the size of the image. Open it in a graphics editing program, reduce
the pixel size to what you need on the slide (less than or equal to 800 X
600) and then save it as PNG or JPG. The file size of the image should
reduce by 50% I would guess. That will help the download time. Also, if
you insert the picture and animate it to "Appear" before the text, that will
control the loading order.
