Optimum paging file size, advise please.

As you have 1G of RAM and only use the computer for
surfing you could in fact turn the virtual memory off
(although XP will still create some) and get away with it.
For you the best thing is "system managed". Keep smiling.

You can't turn VM "off" in the version of MS Windows
to get with a home computer.

use the defaults, or (IMHO) set it equal to
your RAM + 12MB in the min and max values.

Using different min and max values can produce
horribly fragmented file sysems. These
require a non-free defrag product to
fix. IMHO one of Microsoft's bad ideas.
