I have a 400Mhz mother board and my 1 gig upgrade of
memory runs at 400Mhz. I am using windows XP Home Edition.
My computer boots at 200Mhz. Is there a safe way to bring
my computer up to 400Mhz. If possible please advise the
steps necessary. Thank You

You have a motherboard that supports DDR (Double Data Rate) memory. 200 x 2
= 400. Your computer is already "optimized". Your FSB is set as it should
be...200 MHz. Your memory modules can move data on the rise and fall of
each clock cycle for an *effective* speed of 400 MHz. Of course, if you had
bothered to read the manual, you would have known this.

Whoa! That's a bit harsh don't you think? Not everyone
can be blessed with brilliance and completely understand
what they are reading. Even you started out as a newguy.

Yes, I started out as a newguy. But I read manuals and educated myself. I
find it ironic that there are people, like to OP, who can spout numbers and
terminology and have absolutely no clue what they are talking about. A
single paragraph in the manual that came with his motherboard would have
answered his question. Laziness should not be rewarded with a gift wrapped
answer. The logical thing to do if you suspect there is a discrepancy with
settings on your motherboard, is to check the manual.

Amen, brother!

You obviously have a great opinion of yourself. I can
see that in your speech. You also haven't read some of
the crap they call "users manuals" coming out of china
where they make the damn things. In barely
comprehensible "english" they try to explain things that
appear to be way over their heads, both as technicians
and translators. I'm a fair hand within a computer and
still I don't know all there is to know. I weep for you.

You weep for them?

I'll just leave it at that......

You weep for them?? Just make sure those salty tears don't drop onto your DDR 200 x 2 motherboard or you will have a 0 Mhz fry up!!

Come on guys - give a newbie a break. Not everyone can figure out what "rise and fall" means in terms of data transfer. Motherboard manuals tell you what something is but don't necessarily tell you what it means. Stop being so arrogant and intolerant Bobby! Bad dog!!
