Hi,

maybe anyone here can help me out. I have installed Windows XP
Professionell. Since I did a reinstall of my OS, the symbols of my optical
drives do not refresh anymore.. so if there was a cd in drive e.g.
Needforspeed, its icon stays if i get the cd out. When I simply double click
on the symbol after I have inserted another CD explorer searches for
"autorun.exe" from Needforspeed.

I hope you understood what I meant...

with greetings

Patrick

Hi Patrick,

Look in your root directory for autorun.inf. If found, delete it.

Other than that, this is a major bug in XP:

Suggestions:

Open My Computer, right click on the CD Rom in question,
Properties/Hardware/Properties/Volumes/Populate.

Other than that, this problem can occur if you are using Folder view in
Windows Explorer. The view may not be automatically refreshed in Folder view
in Windows Explorer.

To work around this problem, use either of the following methods:

Manually refresh Windows Explorer by pressing F5 or by clicking Refresh on
the View menu in Windows Explorer. And/or Do not use Folder view in Windows
Explorer.

sorry, but this does not solve the problem..
If I boot up with have no CD in Drive, windows would not even change the
symbol if I later insert e.g. needforspeed or something with autorun
functionality.

latest SP is installed!

greetings patrick
