I droped a huge folder1 into the ae2587e etc. folder under Local Disk C, and
it now shows an empty folder1 there in ae2587e etc., and says access is
denied. However my C drive properties say it is still full so the files in
the folder are somewhere. How do i get them back?

I think you posted elsewhere, too. Perhaps you didn't drop the huge
folder where you thought you did. Do a search for some of the file names
you remember.

Hey, thanks for the reply. I did a lot of searching, they are in the windows
temp folder named ae25 etc., and i downloaded a program that lets you view
lost files and i see them or i think most of them. So i guess i just need to
find a comp i can hook up to and revive all the files too, then i can drop
them back onto my comp. thanks for you help.

incase anyone needs it, the program is:

If you are getting an access is denied message then it's an issue of
ownership and permissions. From Start | Help and Support search on
Ownership. For XP Home you'll need to boot into safe mode, and login as the
built in Administrator to take ownership of that folder.

do you have the Explorer tools options set to display system files and folder.
if not once you check the appropriate boxes the files should show.
