Well sorry to be a party crasher but I'm looking for a solution
opposite to what most people seek for PC speaker sound issue : I want
to use the PC speaker beep to be notified of new mail but still be
able to use my sound card and preferably (not a necessity at all) to
use the other sound scheme waves.

As I use headphones in the evening to let the family sleep, I often
forget to turn the speakers on during the day, thus not being audibly
noticed.
