Opinion on AVs

Hi,

I just installed XP-Pro today, and am wanting opinions on a good Anti-Virus.
I have heard, and read, not so good things about NAV, and XP, so was
wondering on another AV, that is reliable, and not so intrusive, memory
intensive into the operating system?

reuse my NAV2002 with a new subscription to update virus definitions.

I have been using the free version of AVG anti virus for some time and it
works well without being intrusive or slowing anything down.

You asked this in enough groups. People frown on crossposters. Anyhow
the correct answer is how much you want to spend. I prefer Norton's and
there are quite a lot of people that prefer others. Check with a local
computer shop and get their opinion. All I know is that I have been
using Norton's System Works ever since it first came out and I have
never gotten a virus. If you want no intrusiveness and memory hogging,
sell your computer and buy a play station. Any good program that is
worth its weight in salt uses memory and wants to know exactly what you
are doing to work properly. And if you get any kind of anti-virus
program check constantly for updates. Norton's has been updated 4 times
in the past week. :-)
 
Not sure what you mean by those comments about NAV and XP, if the current
version of NAV is installed and XP did not overwrite a previous OS with NAV
previously installed. Of course opinions seem to come without details alot
on newgroups and the internet. The stuff Urban Legends are made of...

Google has a butt-ton of return on antivirus and XP.

So, the only way that a virus can get into a computer is through e-mail?
Try telling that to the owners of several hundred thousand
MSBlaster/_et.al._ infected computers.

Well, the same "cool kids" probably have a hardware firewall, i.e. router. ;-)
