Hi, I hope someone out there can help.

My PC will not boot up, I continually get the error messag
"OPERATING SYSTEM NOT FOUND" I have tried re-booting an
pressing the F8 key to enter the extended start up menu but this ha
no effect.

The restore CD that came with the computer also has no effect,
select the option to re-install windows but a "USAGE ERROR 1103
- INVALID DESTINATION DRIVE" appears and the process stops.

I would be most grateful for any assistance but I am beginning to ge
the feeling that my hard drive has failed.

Many Thanks

Alex Davie

Seems like you could be correct. (although you could check that all cables
are firmly seated)
Visit your hd manu site and download their hd checking utility.

You need to verify that the BIOS of the PC is detecting the drive.
Entering BIOS setup is a key press of (F2, DEL..) at the POST or
Power on Self-Test. Usually, there is a category where the IDE or
SATA channel devices are shown.
The message "Operating System Not Found" would seem to
indicate an improper Boot device is selected, not your main drive or
BIOS is working through the defined list of devices and cannot find
a OS boot loader.
While it's possible either the Power or Data cable might be loose
or disconnected, those are "Snug" fitting and won't dislodge without
being physically moved.

Sounds like your hard disk drive has "gone missing"..
If you enter the system BIOS (system setup) before you get to that message -
does it show your hard disk drive?
Have you done anything inside your computer?
Have you checked the cabling going to your hard disk drive tomake sure it is
securely fastened?

This sounds to me like a hardware issue - like you are not finding a hard
disk drive. If your hard disk drive is not properly installed (and found in
the system BIOS) - Windows has no chance of seeing it. If you have not
loaded Windows onto this system yet - you may even need to use the "F6
Install method" and install special drivers for the controller that manages
the hard disk drive - dependnet on your system.

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!! I can't even get a window to pop up to write a
new message!!!!! My problem is that my HELP & SUPPORT button doesn't work at
all - neither do the help files on ANY of my programs. How do I fix my
Windows Help files???????????????
