Operating system language different from keyboard language

Have just bought a new PC in Switzerland from Fujitsu Siemens. It states on
the Product Recovery DVD: Windows XP Home SP-1a Multilanguage. Great. That
means I can install the keyboard in swiss german and have the operating
system in english, just like in the office, I hope. These 2 languages are
mentioned on the DVD.

However, as the OS was preinstalled in german, it looks like I have to
delete everything and reinstall. Will I be able to get my combination? Or do
I have to install both the OS and keyboard in english and then make a
keyboard change afterwards?

How do I reinstall? Do I have to delete everything first?
Sorry to ask simple questions, but past experience has taught me, never make
big changes on the computer without knowing what you are doing!
 
You will indeed have to reload the OS in your preferred language.. having
done so, go to Control Panel - Regional and Languages where you will be able
to determine your default keyboard of choice..
