Opera Free - guess not

I found the same things to dislike in it that I always did. They seem to
try and mimic Firefox at every turn, except for extensions. I was very
comfortable, seeing every Firefox behavior imitated, but none of my valued
extensions.

Sorry Opera, your are still second rate. Firefox has overtaken you big
time.

What wasn't free about it though?

I think it's not bad. Firefox had started to play up for me, freezing,
losing profiles so going to stick with Opera for a while.

Mimic Firefox? Opera celebrated 10 years of existence few days ago, so
your comment about mimicking just showed your lack of knowledge.

Opera has MOST of what you usually install in Firefox as extensions -
not all, but all these things comes with Opera as they are coded
inside the program. And as for extensions, (un)stability of those
extends to the whole main program, so if extension crashes, the whole
browser goes down. I don't really think it's acceptable - I don't want
to be dependent to programming skillz of some l33t h4x0r who wrote
some extension I want to use.

This is supposed to be a flame war? For that, you have to have
knowledge about the matter - you showed not knowledge, but the lack of
it. These two browser cannot be compared on clean install: Opera IS
smaller for download and has a lot of advanced features; Firefox is
bigger for download, and it takes at least 15 extensions to get to the
point where Opera already is. The only thing I miss in Opera is saving
in MHT format and Flashgot extension - but you have to consider that
Firefox also misses these things if no extension is installed.

Compare clean installations, and you'll see Opera is lightyears away.

That page is entirely made in CSS. Compare that page in Opera, Firefox
and IE. Try all the elements in page in Opera, and see what happens,
then try them in other browsers. It's made by the CSS standards.

That's enough for me.

And oh, personally I use both browsers, and I like expandability of
Firefox, but Opera is still faster and better.

It is the other way, I'm afraid. Firefox +1000 Extensions = 2 years
old Opera. Simply as that.

Opera always has been a step above, mainly because it is a 10 years
old project. It's a natural thing.

Perhaps a little tolerance is required here. It was on-topic yesterday
to discuss Opera's free give-away. One should expect that there will be
some discussion of the program for at least the next short while.

Does it have Adblock coded inside the program?

I use Mozilla/Firefox and like it. Opera has its place too.

I ran into a site with a lot of schematics I was interested in
downloading. Firefox wouldn't do a batch download after locating the
index (site had two urls - it was a repository for a defunct site).
FF kept trying to use the defunct URL and it was going to take forever
to manually enter the file names.

Opera has a feature that allows one to see the links on a page. I
just highlighted the links and downloaded them all in one go.
