openning pst files archived from Outlook

I need to open and copy archived files and the operation fails when I try to
use Outlook as my application. How can I retrieve these files? I need to
move them onto a new machine.

Firstly do not try to copy pst files with Outlook open, you will corrupt
the. Close Outlook first. Secondly, where are you trying to open these
files from?

In Outlook, click File>Open>Outlook Data File, browse to the PST you want to
open, select it, and click OK.
