opening shortcuts with ie

when I open my IE 6.0, it opens full screen. When I open a shortcut my IE opens approx 1" x 1". I can click on maximize and it opens fine. I know this isn't a big problem but would appreciate any help.
 
Close the big IE window. Use your cursor to drag the 1" x 1"
IE window to full screen size. Hold down the Ctrl key *and*
use your left mouse button to click the Close[X] in the upper right hand
coner.

Now IE should open full size. You have to do this every once in a while.
