Hi,

Our organisation have just upgraded from NT4, office 97 to
Windows XP with Office xp, and as such had all our users
save their .pst folder to a network drive. When opening
the .pst file in outlook 2002, the pst folder which is 14
MB (and when opened in notepad we can see all the emails)
only shows one small message, all the others are gone.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks!

what folder is the one message in? Are you using the folder list or outlook
bar to browse the pst? (use the folder list)

The one message is in the deleted items. All other
folders are not being displayed We use the folder list to
browse the pst.

G'Day Help-Desk,

I am concerned that ALL users are experiencing this - also
I would expect the 'average' PST file to be about 20-50MB.

May I suggest that you focus on one or two users, and
try the following:

Back up the PST file (and remember where it is located).

CLOSE Outlook
Use SCANPST from Office Xp to repair the File
OPEN Outlook and check

ScanPST may be available in
Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools
as 'Inbox Repair Tool'
OR
you may have to search for it in
C:\Program Files

(Mine is in:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\Mapi\1033)

Let's know how you go!

Hi,

Thanks for you help - I ran Scanpst and it reported no
errors, 4 folders and one file...very strange...

Tested - again outlook only shows the one message - in the
deleted items box!

We only have 2-3 employees that are having this problem,
the other 500 imported fine.

Regards,
Romie

I am also experiencing this issue. I moved my .pst file from one system to our exchange server. I pulled it down on a new system. Some files got transferred, but the bulk of the emails are not showing. I've pulled over a pst from a backup, but nothing shows in it, even after running scanpst. HELP! I have many important emails I need to recover.
