Hi there,

I created a pst file and copied a lot of email into it, (for a guy here at
work). He has Outlook 2000. So when I gave him the .pst file when it was
done, and he tries to open it in Outlook 2000, it says that the .pst file is
incompatable with that Personal File Information Service.

Is there a change in the .pst file format between Outlook 2000 .pst and
Outlook 2003 .pst?

If so, is there some way for me to export the 2003 .pst to a 2000 .pst
compatable format?

Regards,

Yes, outlook 2003 now supports a larger Unicode pst. You'll need to move or
copy items to an older ansi-style pst.

File, New, Outlook Data store. Choose the Outlook97/2002 format. Copy items
to it and File, close when finished.

Hi Diane,

Ah yes, now that you mention that, I remember them saying that at the MS
Office 2003 Launch Event.

In the meantime, I found a work-around, which was to create the .pst using
the Outlook 2000 version, then close Outlook 2000, and open the .pst in
Outlook 2003, and COPY the Inbox, Contacts and other folders into the .pst
file created with Outlook 2000, close Outlook 2003 and then re-open the .pst
file with Outlook 2000.

That worked for me. Turns out, it was the same thing you suggested, though.

Thanks very much,

David
