Opening files

I find it off-putting to be presented with my fiels organised under headings - ie today / this week / last week - when I go to open a Word file. Is there anyway of changing what you are shown / how you are shown it in this bit of Word?
 
Where are you seeing these headings? What you describe is entirely
unfamiliar to me; certainly there is nothing like that in Word's File Open
dialog. It sounds more like the History in Internet Explorer.
