Think I started having this problem when I downloaded Netscape Navigator.
All of my files go to the device manager and from there they stay shut.
Stacey, if you are using Netscape it probably has its own Download
Folder. Take a look in C: or in
C:\Program Files\Netscape.
It is not clear what you mean by "go to the device manager." NetScape
usually will download to the directory (folder) to which it downloaded
previously - unless you change it.
If this is a clickable link to a downloadable file, hold down <shift> when
clicking. This should bring up a SAVE AS box. Specify where you want the
file to go.
WHERE the files are downloaded should have no impact on their usability,
nor should the fact that you installed NetScape. Give more specifics on
the nature of your download, and someone may help.
Just incidentally, if you installed Navigator 4.x, consider instead
NetScape 7.1 or the even more advanced Mozilla 1.6 - from
http://mozilla
org. NetScape 7.1 is based on Mozilla 1.4.
About the only advantage the former has over Moz is the ability to easily
link with NetScape Net WEBmail and AOL instance messenger. Those services
are available via any browser though, but perhaps not as conveniently.
Mozilla is a more advanced, more configurable browser than Internet
Explorer, if you have the time to play with it.
