Opening attachments

I cannot open any now. Either when I try, it does nothing, or this last one
said to "set association panel in control panel" which I have no clue where
that would be in the control panel. Can't see anything.

It could be the known problem appearing after installing IE8.

But your mentioning the file association points into a different
direction.
Which type of file produces the error message in the association?

Which error messages do you receive with other file types, especially
TXT and JPG attachments?

For setting the proper association use "Programs and functions" from the
Control Panel.

That's a known issue that is affecting some who installed IE8.
If you decide to uninstall IE8, follow these instructions:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/957700

However, you may have more than one issue. The error message
referring to "set association" is not due to the IE8 issue. If it
continues after uninstalling IE8, note what type of attachment it is
(DOC, PDF, JPG, etc.), then let us know.
