Hi all,

I have a Word template accessible via our intranet which
has some macros
which run on startup. These work correctly (i.e they
appear on first
startup) when I open the Word document from its location
in Explorer,
however when the link is clicked from the intranet site,
an instance of Word
is loaded into the IE shell and no macros are run on
open. I need these
macros to be run on startup as telling everybody to
press 'Ctrl+A and then
F9' would confuse the heck out of the people who need to
use this function -
I'm in an accounting firm here!! =)

Basically, I'd like to know if it is possible to run
macros in a Word
template opened within IE6 on opening the file. Any help
would be
appreciated.

Thanks!

Within Word, a template is not usually opened but rather used as the basis
for a new document. If such a template has an AutoNew macro, it runs when
that new document is created.

When connected via a hyperlink in IE, the template OPENS for editing. This
is not what you want. If it is acceptable to you, then change your macro to
an AutoOpen macro and it should run (depending on your macro security
settings).

Much better would be to put the template in a workgroup templates folder on
your network. Then it will work the way it is designed to work.
