Hi, new user...not tech savvy at all. I do transcription and recieved a
Access data via FTP file. When I tried to select the file to open, I got
INTO the database, BUT not the EVENT, it says "openform action canceled".
when my employer sent it to someone else, they opened it fine. PLEASE help.
I am losing money by not being able to open this file. I am using Office
professional 2003

I have no idea what you mean by "the EVENT". Is this a form, or something that
you click on a switchboard, or what? What steps are you taking to generate the
error?

I am going to my FTP folder, right clicking, save to desktop (i've tried
opening from FTP file also).

Going to desktop, double clicking the file icon (by the way, it has a
padlock in the icon, did not have it when I tried a trial version of 2007 -
which also said "openform action canceled")

After I double click, i put in the login information and password into the
database. I come to a "main menu" within the database. I click select a
drop down menu, then select a file to open. When I click "proceed" to
actually open the file, I get "openform action canceled".

You'll certainly need to have the database (.mdb file?? .accdb? something
else?) on your local hard drive. I'd suggest putting it in a folder rather
than on your desktop but that's your choice.

This is probably a security issue. I don't have 2007 installed yet, so I can't
be precise on the details, but you may need to move the database to a folder
and mark that folder as a "trusted location". Try checking the suggestions on
Jeff Conrad's site:

Ok, I deleted the old folder and put it in a new folder. Same thing. I went
onto that site and didnt find anything useful. Please remember, I am VERY
not tech savvy. I searched for allow *.mde files. can't find anything. I
didnt have any problem with Access xp
