open XP and access to internet problem

I have PII @2.4GB, Win XP and made by HP and use Wal-Mart
ISP by phone connection.
When I turn on the computer each time, the Window
screen/icon shows up (look) ok. But when I click any icon,
not hihgh light, not file can be opened (not busy
hourglass) for about 45 secends and then windows "Network
Connection" pops up itself.

2nd problem: computer is forizen before internet completed
connected when it is 2nd time connection(i.e: 1st
connection: ok; disconnected and try to on-line again:
problem come up.). I can not use ctrl+alt+delete to stop
it.

I have called HP's service center 3 times and follow Wal-
Mart' tech advise to reload its connection software. The
problem is still exist.

Please someone help me out.

What does a scan with a current antivirus program (meaning a version not
earlier than 2002 and using updated virus definitions) show? Also,
remove spyware with Spybot Search & Destroy from www.security.kolla.de
and Ad-aware from www.lavasoftusa.com. Be sure to update these programs
before running them. It is best to run antivirus and spyware removal
tools in Safe Mode.
