Steve

I have several users that are having this problem. I have
watched them try to open a .jpg, it asks which program,
they choose picture manager (comes with office 2003), and
check the box to always use this program. A few days
later they will come to me saying they tried to open
a .jpg and it asked which program AGAIN. Why won't
windows remember this setting? It happens
with .gif, .bmp, etc.

I am running 2000 server, sp4, XP Pro, sp1, office 2003.

I am trying to permanently set office picture manager as
the default program for .jpg, .gif, .bmp. and it keeps
asking even after it has been told properly. Any help
would be great.

Well actually this has been described to me as an XP
problem. Somehow the registry setting that relates to the
default program for opening images is not being saved or
is being changed. This doesn't only happen with office
picture manager, it happens if you set IE as the default
program also. Does anybody know where this registry
setting can be found? I want to try and set it in a login
script. Thanks
