Open & Save As sort by date instead of alphabetically

When I use Open and Save As dialog boxes in a variety of
software for example Dreamweaver, Photoshop or
Inspiration --the files appear sorted by date (Exception:
MS Word sorts alphabetically). I want to view all of them
sorted alphabetically. I can do this if I go to Details
and then sort by name, but next time I go to open a file
it is back to listing by date. How do I make sorting the
content ALPHABETICALLY in Open and Save As dialog boxes
THE DEFAULT in all my programs?
