I am unable to open a downloaded 139mb .ppt file using the latest
version of Microsoft PowerPoint view. The drop-down message says:
"PowerPoint Viewer cannot open the file "file-name.ppt". Could it be
the file size or perhaps a corrupted download?

See if OpenOffice will open it:
http://www.openoffice.org/

It may have an embedded flash movie in, hence the size, and thus
powerpoint viewer cannot view it. Only Powerpoint can view embedded
flash files in powerpoint files. OpenOffice cannot play embedded flash
files either although normally it should open but nothing will animate.

damned strange topposting. Ok: ich don't use powerpoint but have a
....pps file. So what is the difference between a ...ppt and a pps file?
Isn't the later even a powerpoint file too?

OOo 2.0.2 opens the ...pps file and shows the animated without any probs.

Don't know the difference between .ppt and .pps or even if a .ppt
exists. I'm talking about normal powerpoint slideshow files. I use
either openoffice or powerpoint viewer to look at them and none of these
will play embedded flash files in powerpoint slided unfortunately.

Further to my post. The PPT extension definetly exists. Open Windows
Explorer, select Tools>Folder Options>File Types and boogey down to
PPT. If anyone wants to download the file go to:
http://www.coldwarcomms.org/Arecibo/Arecibo_Tour.ppt
BTW, Arecibo is the name of perhaps the largest radio telescope in the
world and I believe located in Porto Rico.

I guess it's a download problem, the filesize after downloading is
148 MB (156.198.912 bytes).

I downloaded it again and this time I was able to view it. It was a
bigger file.

Thanks all.
