Hoping someone here has a quick answer. . .

Powerpoint can save files as .PPS files that immediately start up as
slideshows when clicked, i.e. they don't open up in the normal Powerpoint
edit mode. Does the Open Office Impress module have the same capability.
None of the save options seem to lead to this. Can someone confirm?

Hi, you can export as .swf (flsh file) and therefore should run on 98%
of machines

Believe it or not, all you need to do is save your presentation as a
..ppt file from Open Office, then rename the file extension to .pps

Works like a charm for me.

OO however, WILL open a .pps file in edit mode by default and not as a
slideshow. If you use OO and want to EDIT .ppt files and SHOW .pps
files as the default behavior, get M$ free Powerpoint Viewer and
associate .pps files with that.

Yeah, but no animation effects. I hear that OO is working on that for the
next incarnation though. . .
