When I am working in word...and I want to start a New
Blank Document...a second instance of Word opens up. Is
there a way that the New Blank Document can be opened up
in the current Word that is opened up. This used to be
the case...but now when I look on my taskbar...I have two
instances of Word opened up.

Thanks in advance!

This is the way versions of Word after Word 97 work. There are fixes but it
would help to know what version of Word you are using.

Charles,

Thanks for the reply. I am using Word 2003.

Thanks again for any help!

It's not a separate instance of Word, just a new window. Beginning in Word
2000, Word uses a Single Document Interface (see
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customization/SDIMDI.htm) with each document in
its own window. Most users find they prefer this, but if you don't, you can
disable it by clearing the check box for "Windows in Taskbar" on the View
tab of Tools | Options.

Instead of a new document if a new blank page is what you are wanting, just insert a page break
