Open folders dont stay on the desktop after reboot

At home, I am using Windows XP Home (with all latest patches, no viruses),
and have the ability to leave a folder open when I turn off the computer.

Upon startup, the folder shows up again, open on the desktop, making it
handy to remember where I was the last session.

At work, I am using Windows XP Pro (with all latest patches, no viruses),
but this will not work.

Upon startup, the open folder shows up briefly, but then dissapears.

Is there any way to convince Windows to keep the folder open upon startup?

Hi Dave,

I'd like to check if this issue occurs after a clean boot. Please try the
following steps:

1. Click Start, click Run, Type "msconfig" (without quotation) in the Open
box, and then click OK.

2. Click on "Startup" tab, click "Disable all".

3. Click on "Services" tab, click to "Hide All Microsoft Services", and
click "Disable All" if the button is not gray.

4. Click OK and restart the computer.
