I'm looking for a solution for the following. I work from several different
pc's and want a way to sync a few files over the Internet so that when I
travel to another office and access my pc in that office, the files I want
to work on , are available via the Internet.
Currently I use gmail , I send an email of the document latest version to
myself and then I just download it at the next office. Not ideal so I look
for something which perhaps can upload automatically and sync perhaps to a
folder on my www server via FTP.
Free would be nice but not essential. It doesn't have to be too clever just
workable for a few files which I work on currently not to be used of course
as a backup solution.

The easiest solution might be to set up a Virtual Private Network
(VPN), then use xcopy.exe to synchronise the various folders.

4 different locations plus casual login perhaps at a hotel Do-able or

Once you've set up a VPN it works from any location. Note
that you'll be limited by the connection speed. Transferring
a 1 MByte file over a dial-up connection will take at least
4 minutes, depending on the quality of the connection.

If you're not familiar with the finer points of port forwarding,
IP addressing, static/dynamic public addresses and the various
switches that come with xcopy.exe then you may want to get
someone with solid networking experience to set this up for
you. It might save you a lot of frustration.

You didn't specify, but if your computers are members of a domain, a
roaming
profile would work great for your situation.

only 1 location is a domain. The others are just workgroups or who knows
what in an Internet cafe for example.
I really seek something very simple like an online file storage
solution.Accessed by IE. I am only talking about current work in prog docs
really.

You have to decide between two options:

a) Use EMail to send the current work files to yourself. Simple
to configure, tedious to operate.

b) Set up a VPN. Demanding to configure, simple to operate.

You have a few options. Xdrive.com gives you 5GB of free space and can be
accessed via IE.
